Hehehehe. Wala lang. Emo mode while picking mangoes for meryenda.
Kulet lang ng Lolo Ko.
While taking photos of my Lolo yesterday...Me: Lo, Picture-an ko kayo para lagay ko sa FB.
Lolo: Sige ba! (Fixed his shirt and sat on the couch)
Me: OK. Pose na!
Lolo: ...(Looks to the other side of the room, opposite my direction with a dramatic expression on his face)
Me: Lo, game naba? Bakit di kayo tumingin dito?
Lolo: Ganyan talaga. Mas DRAMATIC pag kunyare di ko alam na kukunan mo ako.
Me: Paaaaaaaak! Bentang benta! CANDID NOSTALGIA ANG EFFECT??
Today, I found out that my RNHeals journal for the month of March was not accepted and I had to revise and submit it to the provincial office myself. It’s the first one I have ever done, I stayed up late for it, thought so hard about, and put so much effort to finish it. Lol! That was me exaggerating, I finished it in one night. When I asked the Municipal Physician about it, because I was pretty sure I had no misspelled words, it was grammatically corrent and I wrote it in consistent tenses. He told me it was my issue, the Mayor will not like it if he read it. I was like, Whatever, Lets get this over with. Lol. I revised it in a few minutes, printed the got them to sign it. I’m gonna go to the Provincial CHD on Monday.Bummer.
Anyways, my fellow nurses and I went to Landbank this morning to submit our application for an ATM account where our monthly stipend (the equivalent to the monthly salary for regular employees) will be sent to. It was a pretty smooth process because we were the only RNheals nunrses and midwives who came in today. The accountant who assisted us told us that last friday, they were bombarded with RNHeals nurses who applied for an ATM account, so they had to wait the whole day to be processed. Good thing we had to chose to attend a party that Friday so we weren’t able to submit our applications. We were already done by 9:30 am and then headed to the Philhealth office to apply for membership. When we got there, they told us that we had to get the signature of the Provincial Director of DOH, who by the way is all the way in Dagupan city. WE WERE NOT INFORMED OF THIS! We had no choice but to comply, so, I had another reason to go to Dagupan on Monday. At least my effort and money will not be wasted.
Smile and kembot nalang! See you Dagupan on Monday!
Today is the best day yet of my life!
Earlier this morning, I got missed a call from the local CHD office. I wasn’t able to answer the phone because I did not hear it ring. That’s my fault. So I just called them back and asked what the missed call was for. Boy, I must have dialed a million times before I got through, well ,actually, I abused the redial button! Anyways, there I was, talking to some random girl in the office, I told her my demise, she asked for my name and then she called on another random girl to tell me the details. Here’s the best part the other random girl was so busy she only had time to tell me the good part that I GOT A SLOT IN RN HEALS! She’s supposed to tell me the details but she had so much to do so she asked me to call back after a while. That was enough for me. I screamed so loud after the call that my Mom came rushing, I told her the good news and then she did the same thing. It runs in our blood. Lol.
Ok. So after 10 minutes, here I am again trying to call them back. The number is always busy. There must be a lot like me, told to call back. Haha! I need the details so I’ll try and try and try!
Oh and about the cute little bunny dancing on a pole? Wala lang. I just thought Im so happy I wanna dance like that! =)
Everyday, I wake up, I thank the Lord for another day he has given me, and then immediately check the internet for updates regarding RN Heals3. At night, before I go to bed, I again check for updates. This has been my routine for the past weeks 2 months since I submitted my application. The last time I did this was when I was waiting for the results of the July 2010 NLE. Yes, its almost 2 years. I know. I have used that good 2 years make that 1.5 months to good use. I have gained hospital, call center, and tambay experience within that time. So when I heard about RN Heals 3, I immediately went to our local CHD and gave my application. They told me to wait for an email, a call or a text message if ever I am chosen, but I wanted to make sure I get updates directly from them so I asked begged for their contact number. Almost everyday since then, i call them to ask about the status of my application, aside from checking the internet for updates. Last week, I was doing the usual snooping around when I stumbled upon this. http://www.nursegermz.com/ Its a site run by a local RN, giving updates regarding RNheals 3 and more nursing stuff. Turns out, I didn’t need to pester call the local CHD for updates, I just need to read through the comments and articles in this site. I just had to call them once a week to confirm some information. Oh well, the things I do for that job. Anyways, until now there is not yet a list of successful appicants in my region. All applications are still up for deliberation. I just have to pray harder-er that my papers stand out. I wish had I printed it in scented pink paper. Hahahaha! Very Elle Woods right?
Ok. This rant of mine turned out longer than I thought it would be. Oh well, let me just end this by quoting Benjamin Franklin “He that can have patience can have what he will.”
As per the study, college students learn very little in their freshman and sophomore years.
I was browsing through nursing related articles and somehow destiny led me here. Maybe God wanted me to read this and be inspired. I went to church this morning and I asked him if this is where I’m supposed to be. I’m really losing hope and I’m getting tired of waiting. Perhaps he answered me through this..
I’m sharing this to you, who like me is on the verge of losing hope.
Here are some tips on how to stay positive while looking for employment.
1. Unemployment Will End. You know it, they know it.
Of course! You must have to work some time in your life right? Life is a waste if you spend it most of your time worrying. Accept the fact that in our world, there are times of unemployment and there are times of employment. What’s weird is that there is a shortage of nurses around the world right now, even in the Philippines.
We should be thankful that our government working its way on removing volunteerism among nurses, and providing more and more job openings for us like the RNheals program.
Also in due time, more and more countries will open its doors for Philippine nurses. Unemployment will end (itaga mo yon sa bato).
2. Look for Other Doors!
When one door closes, another one opens right? Try to look for other jobs like medical transcriptionist, call center agents, customer care representatives, research assistants and many more.
3. I’m a Nurse and I know a lot of things.
Don’t think all the time that your a nurse and you’ll have to be one. In times like this, learn to bend yourself, and breakdown your skill set. Find out the things you are great at and use them to look for a job.
4. Know your capabilities well
Know the things you are great at and not-so-great at. Invest on the things you know you’re great at. Make them your assets. Improve on those you are not great at. Make them your assets then. (Word of the day “great at”)
5. Try to Volunteer for Charitable Organizations
Not only the feeling of self-fulfillment and being to help others is great, but also you’ll be able to practice your profession in some way.
6. Apply to as many hospitals as possible
Write your resume well, come in time and dress appropriately during interviews. “The more entries your send, the more chances of winning”…right?
7. Reward Yourself for trying
Even small efforts needs to be rewarded. Doing so will help you pursue further and further.
8. Be amazed of what you accomplished
Graduating and passing the board examinations is not an easy task and you’ll agree on me with that. But you were able to do it! Remember that you are the master of your own self and its up to you how to take your life and use it.
9. Yes there are problems
Do not blame the unemployment. Visualize yourself as that person who can stand out and fight its way through a problem. There are choices too! And those choices are yours to make.
10. Be thankful for what you have
Look around and be aware of the people who believed in you, the things you have and the lessons you have learned throughout this journey from day one of your nursing life. Use them to your advantage.
11. Trust Him
Just like how you trusted in Him during the times you are to defend your thesis, take your board examination and the endless reasons why you should trust Him.
12. And lastly, accept the challenge.
Just thought I needed proof that I actually got in. Yey me!
BUT WAIT! I don’t know anyone in that agency..Booo! My chances just got down to zero. In this field, getting a job doesn’t care on what you know or what you can do. All you need to get a job is a friend, a relative, or anyone who works inside the system.
Its such a cliche but its the truth..
Its not WHAT you know, its WHO you know..
